Pin Oak Posts

Welcome Dr. Crowley

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Deborah Crowley has been selected as the principal for the 2026–2027 school year.  She currently serves as a leader in HISD and is excited to join the Pin Oak community. We are confident in her ability to build on the strong progress already in place and continue moving the school forward.

Attendance & Early Pick-up

Dear Pin Oak Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to prioritize student learning and safety, we want to take a moment to remind families of the importance of regular and full-day school attendance. Daily attendance plays a crucial role in student success. The Texas Education Code 21.041 requires students to be present for at least 90% of the instructional days in a school year in order to receive credit for their classes. Additionally, ADA (Average Daily Attendance) is recorded daily at 9:45 a.m., and accurate attendance directly impacts school funding and student accountability.

We understand that emergencies and unavoidable situations arise, and we truly appreciate your efforts to get your child to school consistently. With the district increasing the number of student holidays throughout the year, we kindly ask that appointments or personal absences be scheduled outside of the school day whenever possible. This helps minimize disruptions to your child’s learning and allows them to take full advantage of their instructional time.

New Early Pick-Up Policy Reminder:
In order to ensure the safety and smooth operation of our end-of-day procedures, students must be picked up prior to 3:15 p.m. if they need to leave early. This is a change from last year. Late-day early checkouts have significantly impacted our ability to maintain proper supervision and follow our campus safety protocols, as support staff and administrators are required to step away from their critical duties.

We appreciate your understanding and partnership in ensuring our campus remains a safe, supportive, and academically strong environment for all students.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out to our front office.

Thank you for your continued support.

Principal Vela
